INTRODUCING THE PMA
The PMA is the UK's only independent, accrediting body dedicated to promoting excellence in workplace, employment and business mediation.The PMA PROVIDES ITS MEMBERS WITH:
- A clearly defined set of professional mediator practice standards.
- Regular training courses, events and other professional development activities.
- A dedicated members area including forum and other useful resources.
- Opportunities to network with other professional mediators across the UK and beyond.
The PMA AIMS TO:
- Develop a network of Professional Mediators, working across the UK and beyond.
- Raise the profile and the standard of mediation practice.
- Deliver regular mediator continuing professional development programmes. (CPD)
- Reassure the purchasers and users of mediation services that PMA mediators operate within a strict and rigorous professional framework.
THE PMA ACCREDITATION SCHEME
The PMA has now launched its accrediation scheme for the following individuals, mediation training providers and internal mediation schemes. Accredition is now available for- Independent professional mediators.
- Mediation companies and mediation training providers
- Internal workplace mediation schemes.
Benefits of Accreditation with the PMA
All Accredited Professional Mediators will be have their details entered onto a dedicated page on the PMA website - THE UK MEDIATOR DIRECTORY. The DIRECTORY will include their company name, telephone number, email address, website address and other contact details. The UK MEDIATOR DIRECTORY ensures that people who wish to locate a mediator can do so knowing that all Accredited Professional Mediators are committed to the highest standards.

Accreditation fees as at 31 March 2008
Individuals/principals = £100 one off fee
Mediation companies and mediation training providers = £250 one off fee
Internal mediation schemes = £250 one off fee
PMA COMPLAINTS AND DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURE.
The PMA is currently developing a complaints and disciplinary procedure which applies to all members - please click here to be sent the procedure once it is agreed by the PMA steering group.
